Father, what I remember from when I was young.

Father and his violin.

There was a time when we lived in an upstairs apartment in the Schoterbosstraat.
I knew that father had a violin and sometimes he played it.
Not many people had a radio but father had a fairly good radio.
And every Sunday afternoon we listened to classical music, mostly opera and his favorite was La Bohème.

Father and playing his violin was really not something for in a concerthall.
But he could now and then play a little ditty or song that one then could sing along with.
I was quite young at the time so I do not think even Wim would know anything about that violin.

However, listening to the classical music is what I learned and I've always appreciated.
Even now, after all these years I think of that when I listen to the radio.
For me, listening to the radio, listening is 99% on a station that primarily broadcasts classical music.

That his favorite opera La Bohème was may have another explanation and that is another story about father that you can view and read below.
