After the 14th of May 1940 bombardment
of Rotterdam.

The streets I loved to walk through before the bombardment.
All gone, rebuild and it became never the same.

Music: Pavane by Gabrielle Fauré

When viewing this video, you have to realise that a lot of the rubble in the streets was tidied up to allow traffic to pass. Most of that rubble and later more rubble from the damaged and burned out buildings was dumped in the water of the Schie.
The quay (quay=kade) of the Schie, now without water and the quay, became the Schiekade as it is now, a wide street with a tramline in the middle.

Before May 1940 the Schie was in Rotterdam,
afterwards Rotterdam was in the Schie.
